A fiesta of flavour, colour, and skyline views – Miradora launches as London’s first rooftop tequileria

A sensory celebration has arrived in the heart of the West End – where 101 tequilas flow and every sunset is framed by breathtaking panoramic views

London – 20th June 2025 – In an evening bursting with skyline sunsets, tequila-fuelled energy, and the fiery spirit of modern Mexico, Miradora – London’s first rooftop tequileria – opened its doors high above Theatreland with an electrifying VIP launch event on the 10th floor of Assembly Hotel, Charing Cross Road.

Brought to life by Criterion Hospitality, the innovators behind pioneering concepts like Zedwell hotels, and the 1920s-themed 1 Leicester Square Rooftop Bar and Restaurant, the opening of Miradora marks a new era of elevated escapism – blending bold flavours, spirited social energy and panoramic views into one show-stopping destination.

The evening transported guests to a summer solstice dreamscape, high above the city, where 101 tequilas, lush Mexican décor, and free-flowing cocktails came together in a high-altitude celebration. With sweeping views of The Shard, The London Eye, and Nelson’s Column as their backdrop, a dynamic mix of nightlife tastemakers, media insiders, hospitality leaders, influencers, and London’s cultural crowd immersed themselves in a kaleidoscope of music, colour, and flavour straight from Mexico.

As the sun dipped below the skyline, Cueball - the acclaimed DJ and producer known for his global sets with the likes of Jason Derulo, Sean Paul, and G-Eazy - ignited the rooftop. His genre-blending, Latin-infused mix of reggaeton, salsa remixes, and high-energy beats turned the night into a rhythm-fuelled journey from golden hour to moonlight.

The Floral Editor’s showstopping installations also turned heads from the moment guests arrived. Bursting with Mexico’s national flower - the dahlia - alongside Birds of Paradise, purple orchids, orange eremurus, and flame-red anthuriums, the displays paid homage to the wild beauty and bold spirit of Mexican culture.

A dazzling photobooth set against Miradora’s abstract mural by Sam Sure gave guests sun-soaked keepsakes, while the heart of the event beat around an exclusive tasting experience and margarita workshop with our partners Casamigos and Don Julio. Tequila lovers sipped their way through expertly curated shot flights, with beautifully framed notes detailing each pour’s age, origin, and flavour profile - an interactive masterclass in agave excellence.

One of the evening’s biggest crowd-pleasers was Toma Todo - a traditional Mexican game that struck the perfect balance of culture and fun. Played with a six-sided spinning top called a pirinola, it sparked friendly competition as guests vied for tokens and prizes, turning strangers into teammates and filling the rooftop with laughter and camaraderie.

And the food and drink? As unforgettable as the views. Signature cocktails like the Pineapple Serrano and Mezcal Mist delivered fiery, modern twists on classics, while dishes like Baja Fish tacos with tequila-soaked cod and smoked chipotle aioli, and Shiitake Mushrooms with Jalapeño Crema and Pico de Gallo brought the vibrant punch of a Mexican cantina to the city. And just when guests thought it couldn’t get better, we rolled out Churros dipped in cinnamon sugar and served with lashings of cocoa chocolate fondue  - the perfect finale to a flavour-filled night.

Halima Aziz, Head of Hotels at Criterion Hospitality, commented: “Miradora is our tribute to the vibrancy of Mexico and the spirit of rooftop culture. From our incredible selection of premium tequilas to our mouth-watering menus and live entertainment, Miradora is about community and creating memories over music, mezcal and mesmerising views.”

From Taco Tuesdays and Casamigos 90s Bottomless Brunches to Tequila Happy Hours and curated pre-theatre dining menus, Miradora offers something for everyone, all day long. Whether it's a sunlit lunch with family, afternoon cocktails with friends, or a lively evening under the stars, Miradora blends punchy Mexican flavours with warm hospitality.

With plans to honour Día de los Muertos, Cinco de Mayo, and other cultural celebrations throughout the year, Miradora is set to become a year-round destination for celebrations and sky-high revelry.
